DESCRIPTION:

The Rosa Marchetti is a prized variety of rice that occupies a historically important place among the great Italian rice varieties. Belonging to the fine seed group, it was introduced in 1972 by Cav. Uff. Domenico Marchetti. In the early 1960s, in one of his rice fields for research, Domenico Marchetti isolated a few panicles held in a head (the exact progeny of this splendid variety is unknown). In the years that followed, he continued the lines of those most interesting cobs until he defined the variety that is still recognised today. Out of his love for his wife, he named it after her: Rosa Marchetti. After its widespread popularity in the 1970s, this beautiful rice gradually disappeared from the fields and tables, but in 2014 Eleonora Bertolone brought the authentic variety back. The certified Rosa Marchetti rice is exclusive to the Eleonora Bertolone farm by concession of the Domenico Marchetti family.
